Screenings: Underneath Cincinnati

Southern Ohio Filmmakers Association (SOFA) in partnership with the MidPoint Music Festival (MPMF) will present the 2009 Best of Underneath Cincinnati awards show at 8p.m. on Sept. 26 at the Garfield Suites.

We will have a full day at the Garfield Suites in downtown Cincinnati, presenting three great workshops and a networking event to mix musicians and filmmakers.

- 10-12 Before Spike: Early Black Films
- 1-4pm Acting for Film with Steve Booth and Greg Procaccino
- 4-6 Musician and Filmmaker networking event
- 6-7pm Herbert Brothers - From Artists to Entrepreneurs

Tickets for the screening and awards event are $10 to the general public and will be available online, but SOFA Premiere, MPMF wristband holders, ETA and student IDs get in for $7. About Underneath: Underneath Cincinnati is a tri-annual event that gives local filmmakers a venue and audience for their short films. The top two films selected by the audience will automatically move to the yearly "Best of" event. Additionally, judges will screen all films and select an additional selection of films to be included in the "Best of Underneath" event, and select six outstanding films for awards: Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Acting/Best Actor, Most Original/Best Concept, and the coveted "Best of Underneath".

2009 winter screening was held at the Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky. Spring screening was held at the Know Theatre in Cincinnati, and the Summer screening was held July 30, at the Esquire Theatre in Cincinnati, during the Oxford International Film Festival (OIFF).

The 2009 Best of Underneath event will be held during the MidPoint Music Festival (MPMF) September 24-26, 2009.
